    2022-2023 Product Programs

    Participation Agreement
  • Thank you for participating in Girl Scouts San Diego's 2022-2023 product programs! By taking part in the fall product and Girl Scout Cookie Programs, girls have an opportunity to learn and practice the 5 Skills that will last a lifetime: goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills and business ethics. Program proceeds can also fund Girl Scout experiences like annual membership, troop activities, camp, and volunteer training. Family encouragement and guidance are key to fostering a positive, safe experience. In order for girls to participate, parents/guardians need to read and submit this agreement.

  • The fall product program is a brief friends-and-family opportunity through which customers can purchase nuts, chocolates, and magazines. Troops earn $1.75/$3.00 per item/subscription and girls can earn patches and plush rewards. Order-taking occurs in October and products are delivered in November. During this program, no booths or canvassing of neighborhoods are permitted; however, asking immediate neighbors is okay.

  • The Girl Scout Cookie Program is the world's largest girl-led entrepreneurial program and takes place January through March in San Diego. Troops earn $0.75-$1 per package and girls can earn cumulative reward items and experiences. Girls have a variety of opportunities to publicly market their cookies, including cookie booths, canvassing neighborhoods door-to-door, standabouts, online marketing, and more.

  • Girl Scout eligibility

    • Girls must be registered for the 2022-2023 Girl Scout membership year and submit a signed Participation Agreement.
    • Girls with caregivers in more than one household must submit separate Participation Agreements. Each household will share the same digital ordering tools (M2 system and/or Digital Cookie) and log in, but handles its own product and money to protect both parties from incurring each other's program debt(s).
    • Participants must be in good standing with Girl Scouts San Diego with no unresolved business matters.

    Safety first!

    • Adult supervision is required when girls take orders, collect money, and deliver product.
    • Girls should never enter a customer's home or vehicle.
    • Protect girls' privacy by only having them use their parents'/guardians' phone number or email address when providing contact information to customers.
    • Marketing activities are only permitted until 8 p.m.

    Money collection and handling procedures

    • Troop proceeds belong to the troop, not individual girls.
    • Parent/guardian accepts financial responsibility for all product and money received.
    • Collect payment when product is delivered to a customer, excluding girl delivery products pre- paid online through the M2 system and/or Digital Cookie.
    • Safeguard all money collected and submit to troop within seven days of receipt.
    • Document all family/troop product manager transactions (when product is picked up or when money is turned in) with a receipt-one copy for the parent/guardian, and one for the troop volunteer. This is for everyone's protection in case of a discrepancy.
    • Please do not
      • send money to school with girls.
      • accept bills larger than $20 or checks; Girl Scouts San Diego does not reimburse for counterfeit bills or returned checks.

    Exchange and return guidelines

Products cannot be returned to Girl Scouts San Diego.

    • Melted chocolate (sometimes evidenced by whitening) is considered to be the result of improper handling by troops, families, or consumers and will not be replaced.
    • Troops may accept returns of cookies if they can be used at booths or for another girl's inventory. Ask your troop cookie manager for troop-specific details, including questions about damaged cookies. To avoid over-ordering and to minimize financial responsibility, only pick up cookies to fill new orders.

    Online/email marketing and guidelines

Each program offers easy-to-use digital tools to help girls to create their own storefront where customers can place orders to be shipped direct or delivered in person by the Girl Scout they know.

    • Before engaging in any online activities, girls must review and adhere to guidelines as stated in the following materials:
      • Girl Scout Internet Safety Pledge
      • Supplemental Safety Tips for Online Marketing
      • Digital Marketing Tips for Cookie Entrepreneurs and Their Families
    • Marketing (online or in person) and collecting money prior to the official start date of either the fall product and Girl Scout Cookie Programs is not permitted.
    • Girls under the age of 13 may use the emails in the M2 system and/or Digital Cookie to market to friends, family, and customers. They may also use social media sites and email if they use the accounts of a parent/guardian.
    • Girls 13 and older are permitted to use their own online accounts with adult supervision.
    • If your Girl Scout sales link is posted on a public-facing site, be aware the link is now searchable by anyone and could potentially appear anywhere on the internet.
    • Girls and their parents/guardians must follow through on accepted girl delivery orders and parents must supervise all communications and product delivery logistics with any customers girls don't personally know; girls should never deliver product alone.
    • Program links may not be shared with any news outlet (this includes online and traditional news media, such as radio, television, or magazines).
    • Should any online marketing activities be identified to be in violation of this guidance, Girl Scouts San Diego and Girl Scouts of the USA reserve the right to request removal of the post or disable the sales link.
  • Parent/guardian agreement

I have read and fully understood the information on this entire agreement. We agree to abide by the Girl Scout Law and the participation guidelines outlined here. I acknowledge that disregard of any standard may result in forfeiting rewards or troop proceeds. I understand I am legally responsible for money collected and agree to pay promptly. Should I be delinquent in payment, Girl Scouts San Diego may actively pursue collection through legal avenues, if necessary. I also understand my girl's eligibility for financial assistance and participation in future product programs will be limited if I am delinquent with product program payments. By signing below, I give my Girl Scout permission to participate in programs selected above.
