  • 2027 Emerging Leaders Application

  • An Emerging Leader is a Girl Scout in 10th-12th grade who embodies the mission and promise of Girl Scouts to make the world a better place and strives to be a leader of courage, confidence, and character. 

    As part of the 2027 Emerging Leaders program, Girl Scouts will build skills in networking, business etiquette, public speaking, and personal brand basics through workshops. Then, they will meet with female leaders during a mentoring session and be recognized at our 2027 Cool Women Celebration on Friday, April 23, 2027. 

    Emerging Leaders are required to attend one orientation in March, the Cool Women event on April 23, 2027, and at least one additional workshop between January and April.

    Please submit this application by 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, November 1, 2026.

    Emerging Leaders is a free program.

    2026 Application Updates

    Thursday, November 5: Emerging Leader applicants will receive confirmation email and an interview date

    November 9- November 20: Emerging Leader interviews

    Monday, November 30: Notification of selection and offical invitation to the program

    2027 Events

    Sunday, January 10: Public Speaking Workshop (Mandatory if you are interested in a public speaking role. Highly recommended for all Emerging Leaders.)

    Saturday, February 6: Linkedin/ Personal Branding Workshop

    Wednesday, February 24: Career Exploration Experience - Details to follow

    Saturday, March 6 OR Sunday, March 14 (must choose only one): Mandatory Emerging Leaders Orientation and Networking Workshop

    Wednesday, April 7: Career Exploration Experience/Networking Event - Details to follow

    Friday, April 23: Mandatory Cool Women Celebration at the Hilton Bayfront

    Your video MUST:

    • Include you wearing your Girl Scout uniform if you have one (vest or sash and white blouse). If you do not have a uniform yet, you can wear business casual clothing.
    • Be 60 seconds or less in length. Going a little over is fine, don't rush to fit everything in.
    • Remember, speak slowly and calmly - you got this!
    • Be shot horizontally (no vertically shot videos; especially important if using a smartphone to record).
    • Record in a quiet setting (no background noise; speak loudly and enunciate your words).
    • Have a file name in this format: Lastname_FirstName (e.g., Smith_Jane.wmv).

    Remember to be comfortable and be yourself--we want your personality to shine through!

  • Parent/Guardian notification and agreement: I have read the Emerging Leaders application and description. To the best of my knowledge, my daughter/ward (above) has a clear understanding of the program she has applied for, and, if selected, has my permission to participate. Should my daughter/ward be accepted, I grant permission for Girl Scouts San Diego to release my Girl Scout's contact information (name, email, phone number, and parent/guardian name, email, phone number) to media wishing to contact and recognize her as an Emerging Leader Girl Scout or honor her with other awards. Any photographs taken by Girl Scouts San Diego may be used for public relations and marketing purposes without any claims on my part. If an Emerging Leader Girl Scout is 18 or older, the Girl Scout can sign for herself.
